HCC: The Troubles
(Anglo - Irish Conflict)
Agenda Item: Open Agenda
For decades, Northern Ireland stood at the heart of one of the most complex and deeply human conflicts of the 20th century. The Troubles was not merely a struggle between two sides it was a crash of identities, histories, and visions for the future. Streets became frontlines, politics became battlegrounds, and everyday life became a test of endurance with survival.
Delegates will be a part of a period known with intense political tension, paramilitary activity, civil rights movements and delicate negotiations. You will confront the intertwined challenges of nationalism and unionism, state authority and community resistance, peacekeeping and escalation. From managing volatile ceasefires and constitutional debates to responding to acts of political violence, every decision will influence the fragile balance of Northern Ireland.
This is not simply a recreation of past events it is an exploration of the forces that shape divided societies, the weight of identity and the cost of conflict.
Will you guide the region toward stability and peace, or allow distrust, pressure and unrest into deeper violence?
